Abstract
A connector that can be connected between a rack and a switch includes a coupling member, which is connected to a piston assembly that is operatively coupled to a body structure, and a stationary interface member, which is coupled to the body structure. The piston assembly includes a piston connected to the coupling member that can be displaced in both axial and radial directions with respect to the body structure so that the coupling member can move in the axial and radial directions. The connector may be included in a switch.
Claims21
A connector comprising:
- a stationary interface member coupled to a body structure so that the stationary interface member is stationary with respect to the body structure;
- and
- a piston assembly operatively coupled to the body structure and operatively coupled to the stationary interface member through the body structure, the piston assembly including a piston connected to a coupling member, the piston being positioned in the piston assembly and configured to be displaced in both axial and radial directions with respect to the body structure so that the coupling member can move in the axial and radial directions.
A connector connected between a rack and a switch comprising:
- a stationary interface member coupled to a body structure so that the stationary interface member is stationary with respect to the body structure, the stationary interface member being connected to the switch;
- a piston assembly operatively coupled to the body structure and connected to the stationary interface member through the body structure, the piston assembly including a piston connected to a coupling member that is connected to the rack, the piston being positioned in the piston assembly and configured to be displaced in both axial and radial directions with respect to the body structure, thereby allowing an axial and radial floatation on a rack side of the connector, while staying stationary on a switch side of the connector.
A liquid-cooled switch comprising:
- a housing;
- tubing in the housing for transferring coolant;
- and
- a connector with two degrees of freedom, the connector being configured to counteract dependency of motions inside and outside of the switch such that when a part of the connector moves outside of the switch, the tubing in the switch connected to the connector does not move.
