Abstract
Server racks that are integrated with cold air delivery are described. Each server rack has a tube having a hollow space therein. The hollow space is used to deliver cold air via one or more valves to one or more servers. The one or more valves are either integrated or fitted to the server racks. The use of the hollow space by itself increases pressure of the cold air. There is no need to use a large fan that consumes a large amount of energy to pressurize the cold air and no need to use a raised floor.
Claims21
A system for controlling an air flow towards a space associated with a server rack, comprising:
- a computer;
- and
- a server rack having a plurality of valves, wherein the server rack has a plurality of supports,
- wherein the plurality of valves face the space associated with the server rack,
- wherein the computer is coupled to the plurality of valves to control opening and closing of one or more of the plurality of valves to further control the air flow towards the space.
A server rack for controlling an air flow towards a space associated with the server rack, comprising:
- a tubular frame;
- a plurality of valves mounted to the tubular frame;
- a plurality of supports coupled to the tubular frame,
- wherein the plurality of valves face the space associated with the server rack,
- wherein one or more of the plurality of valves is configured to be controlled to open and close to further control the air flow towards the space.
A computer for controlling a temperature in a space associated with a server rack, comprising:
- a processor,
- wherein the processor is configured to receive a measured temperature from a sensor that is coupled to the server rack,
- wherein the processor is configured to compare the measured temperature with a plurality of temperature values within a predetermined temperature range,
- wherein the processor is configured to open or close one or more of a plurality of valves associated with the server rack based on the comparison to control the temperature in the space associated with the server rack;
- and
- a memory device coupled to the processor for storing the predetermined temperature range.
