Datastore for aggregated measurements for metrics

A system, comprising at least one computing device configured to implement one or more services, wherein the one or more services are configured to:

• receive a request to store a measurement, the request including the measurement and metadata specifying attributes of the measurement;
• generate, using a hash function and the metadata, a metric identifier for the measurement;
• select, based at least in part on the metric identifier and a timestamp for the measurement, a partition of a plurality of partitions at a plurality of datacenters for placement of the measurement, wherein at least a portion of the metric identifier identifies the partition of the plurality of partitions, while another portion of the metric identifier is used for unique identification of the measurement within the partition;
• transmit the measurement from the partition to a corresponding aggregator system comprising one or more in-memory datastores;
• aggregate the measurement with one or more measurements previously stored within an in-memory datastore of the one or more in-memory datastores;
• and
• store the measurement and the one or more measurements in the in-memory datastore of the one or more in-memory datastores.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon executable instructions that, upon execution by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

• receive, from a partition of a plurality of partitions, a plurality of measurements for a metric;
• obtain, from an in-memory datastore, other measurements for the metric;
• aggregate the received plurality of measurements with the other measurements;
• store the aggregated measurements in the in-memory datastore;
• receive a request to retrieve one or more measurements from one or more in-memory datastores, the request including a metric identifier for the one or more measurements, the metric identifier having been generated by a hash function and metadata associated with the other measurements for the metric;
• use the metric identifier to identify the one or more in-memory datastores wherein the one or more measurements are stored, wherein at least a portion of the metric identifier identifies the one or more in-memory datastores, while another portion of the metric identifier is used for unique identification of the one or more measurements within the one or more datastores;
• obtain the one or more measurements from the identified one or more in-memory datastores;
• and
• transmit the one or more measurements.
