Systems and methods for managing network services based on real-time and historical data

A system for facilitating media communication sessions along a path established between a plurality of endpoints over one or more networks, wherein each media communication session includes a transmission of one or more media data packets over the one or more networks, the system comprising:

• one or more memories having stored thereon computer-executable instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the stored instructions to:
• receive a request from a first endpoint of the plurality of endpoints to initiate a media communication session;
• receive a set of potential configurations, wherein each configuration includes a path involving one or more network elements, and a setting for processing the one or more media data packets over each path of;
• receive, for the each path, historical data that associates qualities of prior media communication sessions with prior network conditions;
• predict an expected quality associated with each of the set of potential configurations based on the qualities of prior media communication, the prior network conditions, and current network conditions at the each path;
• and
• determine a configuration for the requested media communication session from among the set of potential configurations based on a relationship between the expected qualities and a target quality for the requested media quality session, wherein the setting includes a selection of a codec, and wherein the codec is selected based on the target quality for the requested media communication session.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that are executable by one or more processors to cause the one or more processors to perform a method for facilitating media communication sessions over a path established between a plurality of endpoints over one or more networks, wherein each media communication session includes a transmission of one or more media data packets over the one or more networks, the method comprising:

• receiving a request from a first endpoint of the plurality of endpoints to initiate a media communication session;
• receiving a set of potential configurations, wherein each configuration includes a path involving one or more network elements, and a setting for processing the one or more media data packets over each path of the set of potential configurations;
• receiving, for the each path, historical data that associates qualities of prior media communication sessions with prior network conditions;
• predicting an expected quality associated with each of the set of potential configurations based on the qualities of prior media communication, the prior network conditions, and current network conditions at the each path;
• and
• determining a configuration for the requested media communication session from among the set of potential configurations based on a relationship between the expected qualities and a target quality for the requested media quality session, wherein the setting includes a selection of a codec, and wherein the codec is selected based on the target quality for the requested media communication session.
