Apparatus for transmitting and receiving a signal and method of transmitting and receiving a signal

An apparatus for transmitting at least one broadcasting signal having Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data and preamble data, the apparatus comprising:

• an encoder to encode the PLP data;
• an encoder to encode the preamble data;
• a first mapper to map the encoded PLP data into PLP data symbols;
• a second mapper to map the encoded preamble data into preamble data symbols;
• a time interleaver to time interleave the PLP data symbols using a twisted block interleaving scheme, wherein the time interleaving is performed by using an interleaving memory, wherein each position of cells in the interleaving memory is acquired based on a twisting parameter and a modulo operation, wherein each cell including the PLP data symbols in the interleaving memory is accessed in a diagonal-wise direction corresponding to the twisting parameter and wherein specific cells in the interleaving memory are skipped during reading operation of the time interleaving;
• a frame builder to build a signal frame including the time interleaved PLP data symbols and the preamble data symbols;
• a modulator to modulate the signal frame by Inverse Fast Fourier Transform;
• and
• a transmission unit to transmit the modulated signal frame,
• wherein the preamble data includes information for channel bonding, and
• wherein data-reordering is performed at a receiver side when the channel bonding is applied.

A method for receiving at least one broadcasting signal having Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data and preamble data by a receiver, the method comprising:

• receiving the at least one broadcasting signal;
• demodulating the received at least one broadcasting signal by Fast Fourier Transform;
• parsing a signal frame including the PLP data symbols and the preamble data symbols from the demodulated at least in broadcasting signal;
• time de-interleaving the PLP data symbols using a twisted block de-interleaving scheme, wherein the time de-interleaving is performed by using a de-interleaving memory, wherein each position of cells in the de-interleaving memory is acquired based on a twisting parameter and a modulo operation, wherein each cell including the PLP data symbols in the interleaving memory is accessed in a diagonal-wise direction corresponding to the twisting parameter and wherein specific cells in the de-interleaving memory are skipped during reading operation of the time de-interleaving;
• de-mapping the preamble data symbols into the preamble data;
• de-mapping the time de-interleaved PLP data symbols into the PLP data;
• decoding the preamble data;
• and
• decoding the PLP data,
• wherein the preamble data includes information for channel bonding, and
• wherein data-reordering is performed when the channel bonding is applied.

An apparatus for receiving at least one broadcasting signal having Physical Layer Pipe (PLP) data and preamble data, the apparatus comprising:

• a receiving unit to receive the at least one broadcasting signal;
• a demodulator to demodulate the received at least one broadcasting signal by Fast Fourier Transform;
• a parser to parse a signal frame including the PLP data symbols and the preamble data symbols from the demodulated at least in broadcasting signal;
• a time de-interleaver to time de-interleave the PLP data symbols using a twisted block de-interleaving scheme, wherein the time de-interleaving is performed by using a de-interleaving memory, wherein each position of cells in the de-interleaving memory is acquired based on a twisting parameter and a modulo operation, wherein each cell including the PLP data symbols in the interleaving memory is accessed in a diagonal-wise direction corresponding to the twisting parameter and wherein specific cells in the de-interleaving memory are skipped during reading operation of the time de-interleaving;
• a first de-mapper to de-map the preamble data symbols into the preamble data;
• a second de-mapper to de-map the time de-interleaved PLP data symbols into the PLP data;
• an decoder to decode the preamble data;
• and
• a decoder to decode the PLP data,
• wherein the preamble data includes information for channel bonding, and
• wherein data-reordering is performed when the channel bonding is applied.
