Technologies for configuring transmitter equalization in a communication system

A first communication device for communicating with a second communication device, the first communication device comprising:

• a chip-to-chip interface comprising a first communication lane interface to communicate with a first communication lane interface of a second communication device over a chip-to-chip communication link, the first communication lane interface comprising a transmitter, a receiver, and a transmitter equalization register;
• and
• a request module to request transmitter equalization of the first communication lane interface, wherein the request module is to set a request flag of the transmitter equalization register to request the transmitter equalization, wherein the request flag indicates to a station management entity that the station management entity is to perform transmitter equalization on the second communication device with use of settings of the transmitter equalization register,
• wherein the chip-to-chip interface is further to receive, from the second communication device, a signal that has been filtered based on the settings of the transmitter equalization register.

One or more non-transitory, machine readable storage media comprising a plurality of instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution, cause a station management entity to:

• read, and over a dedicated communication bus established between the station management entity and a plurality of communication devices of a communication system, local transmitter equalization settings from a first transmitter equalization register of a first communication lane interface of a first communication device;
• and
• write, over the dedicated communication bus, the local transmitter equalization settings of the first communication lane interface of the first communication device to a first transmitter equalization register of a first communication lane interface of a second communication device,
• wherein the first communication lane interface of the first communication device is communicatively coupled with the first communication lane interface of the second communication device via a chip-to-chip communication link different from the dedicated communication bus,
• wherein the local transmitter equalization settings are to be used by the first communication device to filter a signal to be sent from the first communication device to the second communication device.
