Abstract
A novel garden bean cultivar, designated HMX4127 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of garden bean cultivar HMX4127, to the plants of garden bean line HMX4127 and to methods for producing a bean plant by crossing the cultivar HMX4127 with itself or another bean line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a bean plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenic and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other garden bean line derived from the cultivar HMX4127.
Claims21
A seed of bean cultivar designated HMX4127, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar has been deposited under NCIMB No. 42739.
A bean plant, or a plant part thereof, having all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar HMX4127 listed in Table 2, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar has been deposited under NCIMB No. 42739.
A bean plant, or a plant part thereof, having all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar HMX4127 wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar has been deposited under NCIMB No. 42739.
A method of introducing a desired trait into bean cultivar HMX4127 comprising:
- (a) crossing a bean cultivar HMX4127 plant grown from bean cultivar HMX4127 seed, wherein a representative sample of seed has been deposited under NCIMB No. 42739 with another bean plant that comprises a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of insect resistance, disease resistance, water stress tolerance, heat tolerance, improved shelf life delayed shelf life, and improved nutritional quality;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the bean cultivar HMX4127 plant to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar HMX4127 listed in Table 2 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times in succession to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and the physiological and morphological characteristics of bean cultivar HMX4127 listed in Table 2.
