Abstract
A method and an arrangement for operating an internal combustion engine. In the method, an injection start is calculated by a filter, starting from a standard injection start and at least one of the filter parameters is selected in accordance with the operating mode of the internal combustion engine.

A method for operating an internal combustion engine, comprising the steps of:
- determining an injection start using a first filter and a second filter, starting from a standard injection start;
- and selecting at least one filter parameter as a function of an operating state of the internal combustion engine, wherein a filter parameter of the second filter depends on a gradient of an injection start.
