Abstract
A syringe calibrated for use with a single predetermined medication including a barrel having an internal reservoir volumetrically calibrated to contain the medication, a plunger received within the barrel, a first set of graduated indicia marked on the barrel indicating a first predetermined patient characteristic expressed in one of kg, max kg, lb, max lb, m2, and max m2, a second set of graduated indicia marked on the barrel indicating a second predetermined patient characteristic, different from the first predetermined patient characteristic, and expressed in one of kg, max kg, lb, max lb, m2, and max m2, and graduation lines marked on the barrel.
Claims39
A syringe calibrated for use with a predetermined medication, comprising:
- a barrel having an internal reservoir volumetrically calibrated to contain a volume of the predetermined medication;
- a plunger received within the barrel and axially movable relative thereto;
- a first set of indicia marked on the barrel or plunger indicating a predetermined patient characteristic calibrated to a manufacturers recommended volumetric dosage for the predetermined medication;
- a second set of indicia marked on the barrel or plunger indicating volumetric dosage of the predetermined medication;
- and
- graduation lines marked on the barrel or plunger indicating one or more of the first set of indicia and the second set of indicia.
A kit, comprising:
- a medication container containing a volume of a predetermined medication;
- and a syringe volumetrically calibrated for use with the predetermined medication, the syringe comprising:
- (i) a barrel having an internal reservoir adapted to contain the predetermined medication;
- (ii) a plunger received within the barrel and axially movable relative thereto;
- (iii) a first set of indicia marked on the barrel or the plunger indicating a predetermined patient characteristic calibrated to a manufacturers recommended dosage schedule for the predetermined medication;
- (iv) a second set of indicia marked on the barrel or the plunger indicating volumetric dosage of the predetermined medication;
- and
- (v) graduation lines indicating one or more of the first set of indicia and the second set of indicia.
A dosing device calibrated for use with a predetermined medication according to a predetermined manufacturers recommended dose, comprising:
- a barrel having an internal reservoir adapted to contain a volume of the predetermined medication;
- a plunger adapted to control the volume of the predetermined medication in the barrel;
- a first set of dosing indicia expressed as a patient characteristic calibrated according to the predetermined manufacturers recommended dose;
- a second set of dosing indicia expressed as a volumetric dose corresponding and calibrated according to the predetermined manufacturers recommended dose;
- a third set of dosing indicia expressed as a patient characteristic different from the patient characteristic of the first set of dosing indicia, the third set of dosing indicia calibrated according to the predetermined manufacturers recommended dose;
- and
- graduation lines indicating one or more of the first set of dosing indicia, the second set of dosing indicia, and the third set of dosing indicia.
