Abstract
A method and device may control energy consumption of in an in vivo imaging device by determining or estimating an amount of energy needed to capture images at a frame rate until a complete passage of the device through a predetermined region of the gastrointestinal tract, and alter or limit the frame capture rate accordingly.
Claims20
A system for controlling energy consumption of an in vivo imaging device, the system comprising:
- an in vivo imaging device for capturing images of a body lumen comprising a power source;
- at least one processor configured to:
- repeatedly calculate a minimal amount of energy needed to operate the in vivo imaging device at a minimum non-zero frame capture rate to complete a passage of the imaging device through at least a predetermined region of the GI tract,
- determine the amount of available energy remaining in the imaging device power source;
- when the amount of available energy remaining in the device power source is greater than the minimal amount of energy, enable operation of the imaging device at a frame capture rate above the minimum non-zero frame capture rate;
- and
- when the available energy remaining in the imaging device power source is not greater than the minimal amount of energy, operate the imaging device at the minimum non-zero frame capture rate.
A method for controlling energy consumption of an in vivo imaging device, the method comprising using at least one hardware processor for:
- repeatedly calculating a minimal amount of energy needed to operate the imaging device at a minimum non-zero frame capture rate to complete a passage of the imaging device through at least a predetermined region of the GI tract,
- determining the amount of available energy remaining in the power source of the imaging device;
- when the amount of available energy remaining in the power source is greater than the minimal amount of energy, enabling operation of the imaging device at a frame capture rate above the minimum non-zero frame capture rate;
- and
- when the available energy remaining in the power source is not greater than the minimal amount of energy, operating the imaging device at the minimum non-zero frame capture rate.
A method for controlling energy use in an in vivo imaging device, the method comprising:
- continually calculating an amount of energy to operate the imaging device at a minimum image frame capture rate to complete a passage of the imaging device through a region of the GI tract,
- when the amount of available energy in a battery of the imaging device is greater than the amount of energy, setting the imaging device to operate at an image frame capture rate above the minimum image frame capture rate;
- and
- when the available energy remaining in the battery is not greater than the amount of energy, setting the imaging device to operate at the minimum image frame capture rate.
