Abstract
The invention provides compositions and methods directed to carbonation of a cement mix during mixing. The carbonation may be in a stationary mixer or a transportable mixer, such as a drum of a ready-mix truck.
Claims15
A cement mix composition, comprising:
- (i) a hydraulic cement;
- (ii) water;
- (iii) carbon dioxide and products of reaction of the carbon dioxide with the hydraulic cement , in an amount, measured as carbon dioxide, from 0.01-0.5% by weight cement (bwc), wherein the carbon dioxide reaction products comprise calcium carbonate comprising amorphous calcium carbonate and wherein the carbon dioxide comprises solid carbon dioxide;
- and
- (iv)particles comprising calcium carbonate, wherein the particles have an average particle size of less than 400 nm,
- wherein the composition is fluid and capable of being mixed and poured into a mold.
