Image processing apparatus, image capturing apparatus, and image processing method

An image processing method performed by an image processing apparatus, the method comprising:

• a first correction step of setting each of a plurality of pixels included in an image as a target pixel in sequence, determining whether or not the target pixel is a defective pixel, and correcting the target pixel using peripheral pixels of the target pixel in a case where the target pixel is determined to be a defective pixel, wherein the first correction step does not use, in the correction of the target pixel, a defective pixel in the peripheral pixels that is known at the time of the correction of the target pixel;
• and
• a second correction step of correcting each corrected pixel that has been corrected in the first correction step using a defective pixel which was unknown at the time of the correction, using the peripheral pixels used in the first correction step, wherein the second correction step uses, for the defective pixel in the peripheral pixels used in the first correction step, a corrected pixel obtained by correcting the defective pixel in the first correction step.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute an image processing method, the method comprising:

• a first correction step of setting each of a plurality of pixels included in an image as a target pixel in sequence, determining whether or not the target pixel is a defective pixel, and correcting the target pixel using peripheral pixels of the target pixel in a case where the target pixel is determined to be a defective pixel, wherein the first correction step does not use, in the correction of the target pixel, a defective pixel in the peripheral pixels that is known at the time of the correction of the target pixel;
• and
• a second correction step of correcting each corrected pixel that has been corrected in the first correction step using a defective pixel which was unknown at the time of the correction, using the peripheral pixels used in the first correction step, wherein the second correction step uses, for the defective pixel in the peripheral pixels used in the first correction step, a corrected pixel obtained by correcting the defective pixel in the first correction step.
