Device sharing processing of input data with an external information processing apparatus

A data processing method for processing data in a device, the method comprising:

• inputting first data;
• performing a part of a first process on the first data to generate second data, a data amount of the second data being less than a data amount of the first data, the first process being requested to be performed by an information processing apparatus connected via a network, and the second data being processed so that a remainder of the first process is executable in the information processing apparatus;
• transmitting the generated second data to the information processing apparatus;
• and
• receiving third data via the network, the information processing apparatus performing the remainder of the first process on the second data to generate the third data, wherein both the transmitted second data and the received third data are derived from the inputted first data.

A non-transitory computer program product to be executed on a computer to perform a method, the method comprising:

• inputting first data;
• performing a part of a first process on the first data to generate second data, a data amount of the second data being less than a data amount of the first data, the first process being requested to be performed by an information processing apparatus connected via a network, and the second data being processed so that a remainder of the first process is executable in the information processing apparatus;
• transmitting the generated second data to the information processing apparatus;
• and
• receiving third data via the network, the information processing apparatus performing the remainder of the first process on the second data to generate the third data, wherein both the transmitted second data and the received third data are derived from the inputted first data.
