Opto-electrical device and method for manufacturing thereof

A method for manufacturing an opto-electrical device comprising the steps of:

• providing a cover comprising a metal foil, and a patterned electrically conductive layer wherein the patterned electrically conductive layer is disposed on an electrically insulating layer electrically insulating the patterned electrically conductive layer from the metal foil,
• providing an opto-electrical structure that comprises at least an electrode layer, an opto-electrical layer and a transparent electrically conductive layer, the opto-electrical structure having a first main surface facing towards the cover,
• providing a first plurality of transverse electrical conductors that extend from the patterned electrically conductive layer of the cover to the transparent electrically conductive layer,
• providing a second plurality of transverse electrical conductors that extend from the metal foil to the electrode layer through openings in the patterned electrically conductive layer such that the second plurality of transverse electrical conductors are electrically insulated from the patterned electrically conductive layer,
• providing a barrier structure, wherein the opto-electrical structure is sandwiched between the cover and the barrier structure, and
• wherein the cover extends beyond said first main surface of the opto-electrical structure,
• wherein a portion of the cover extending beyond said first main surface of the opto-electrical structure is wrapped around a circumference of the opto-electrical structure over a free surface of the barrier structure.
