Abstract
The present invention provides for the design and synthesis of halogenated thieno- and pyrrolopyrimidine compounds that exhibit cancer proliferation inhibitory activity and the use thereof for cancer treatment.
Claims4
A method of inducing apoptosis and/or inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, the method comprising administering to breast, colon, renal, melanoma and leukemia cancer cells an effective amount of a halogenated thienopyrimidine compound having the following formula:
- wherein X is S and Y is H or Br, wherein the effective amount induces apoptosis and/or inhibits the growth of the cancer cells.
A method of inducing apoptosis and/or inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, the method comprising administering to breast, colon, renal, melanoma and leukemia cancer cells an effective amount of a halogenated pyrrolopyrimidine compound having the following formula:
- wherein X is NH and Y is H or I, wherein the effective amount induces apoptosis and/or inhibits the growth of the cancer cells.
