Abstract
Methods for reducing the growth of breast cancer cells in a subject by exposing the cells to nanoparticles, and irradiating with a focused, low to medium power ultrasound. The nanoparticles can be gold or magnetic nanoparticles. The nanoparticles can have a cancer drug attached, such as an antibody-based cancer drug.
Claims4
A method for reducing the growth of breast cancer cells in a subject, the method consisting of the steps:
- injecting into the subject magnetic nanoparticles;
- and
- irradiating the subject with focused ultrasound;
- wherein the spatial-peak temporal-peak intensity of the ultrasound measured in a well with 1 mL water using a calibrated needle hydrophone is less than 70 W/cm2.
