Systems, assemblies, computer readable media and methods for medical imaging

A system for medical imaging, the system comprising:

• a first imaging plate configured to acquire a first medical image;
• a second imaging plate configured to acquire a second medical image;
• a first carton disposed on the first imaging plate;
• a second carton disposed on the second imaging plate;
• a container disposed about the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate, an interior of the container dimensioned to hold the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate together in an overlapping orientation within a predetermined overlapping alignment tolerance, the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate are held within the predetermined alignment tolerance by friction and the first and second cartons enhance a friction fit between the first imaging plate, second imaging plate, and the container, and the container is further configured to be at least partially received within the mouth of a patient;
• an image reader configured to convert the first medical image and the second medical image to a first digital medical image and a second digital medical image;
• and
• a processor configured to receive the first and second digital medical images and create a composite image of the first and second digital images.

A method of medical imaging, the method comprising:

• providing a first imaging plate configured to acquire a first medical image;
• providing a second imaging plate configured to acquire a second medical image;
• providing a container disposed about the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate, the container having an interior with a dimension and configured to be at least partially received within the mouth of a patient;
• and
• holding the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate in an overlapping orientation within a predetermined overlapping alignment tolerance due to the dimension of the interior of the container;
• wherein the first medical image is a first intra-oral dental image and the second medical image is a second intra-oral dental image.

A system for medical imaging, the system comprising:

• a first imaging plate configured to acquire a first medical image;
• a second imaging plate configured to acquire a second medical image;
• a container disposed about the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate, an interior of the container dimensioned to hold the first imaging plate and the second imaging plate together in an overlapping orientation within a predetermined overlapping alignment tolerance, and the container is further configured to be at least partially received within the mouth of a patient;
• an image reader configured to convert the first medical image and the second medical image to a first digital medical image and a second digital medical image;
• and
• a processor configured to receive the first and second digital medical images and create a composite image of the first and second digital images;
• wherein the first medical image is a first intra-oral dental image and the second medical image is a second intra-oral dental image.
