Managing consistency of multiple-source fabrication data in an electronic design environment

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, if executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• receiving a query for a design parameter, wherein the design parameter specifies a physical layout property of an integrated circuit;
• accessing a database that includes a plurality of sections, each of which corresponds to a respective electronic circuit design tool configured to use one or more types of physical layout data, and wherein the plurality of sections of the database include first and second sections respectively configured to store first and second values for the design parameter that are based on different data sources;
• and
• generating a response to the query based on a combination of the first and second values for the design parameter, wherein generating the response includes calculating a total confidence value for the design parameter that is based on first and second confidence values that respectively correspond to the first and second values for the design parameter, and wherein the response indicates, based on whether the total confidence value exceeds a confidence threshold value, whether an error condition exists for the design parameter.

A system, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor and having stored thereon instructions executable by the processor to cause the system to perform operations comprising:
• storing, in a database, first and second values for a design parameter that specifies a physical layout property of an integrated circuit, wherein the first and second values are respectively based on first and second parameter settings for first and second different electronic circuit design tools
• receiving a request to the database, wherein the request is for the design parameter, wherein the database includes a plurality of sections, each of which specifies a type of physical layout data, and wherein the plurality of sections include first and second sections that respectively store the first and second values for the design parameter;
• generating a response to the request, wherein the generating is based on a combination of the first and second values, wherein the combination of the first and second values is calculated from a weighted average based on first and second confidence values that respectively correspond to the first and second values for the design parameter;
• and
• returning the response to the request.

A method, comprising:

• a computer system receiving a plurality of files containing a plurality of data values for a plurality of design parameters usable by a plurality of electronic circuit design tools physically lay out at least a portion of an integrated circuit;
• and
• the computer system performing a consistency check on the plurality of design parameters, wherein performing the consistency check includes:
• calculating a total confidence value for at least one of the plurality of design parameters, wherein the total confidence value is based on first and second confidence values that respectively correspond to the first and second values for the at least one design parameter;
• and
• wherein a result of the consistency check indicates, based on a comparison of the total confidence value to a confidence threshold value, whether an error condition exists for the at least one design parameter.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, if executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• importing first and second sets of one or more design parameter values into first and second respective sections of a database, wherein the first and second sets correspond to different data sources, wherein the one or more design parameter values correspond to one or more geometric properties of at least a first metal in a layer of an integrated circuit;
• and
• in response to the importing, performing a consistency check on the one or more design parameter values, wherein performing the consistency check includes:
• calculating a total confidence value for a first one of the one or more design parameters that is based on a first confidence value corresponding to the value in the first set and a second confidence value corresponding to the value in the second set;
• and
• comparing the total confidence value to a confidence threshold value for the first one of the one or more design parameters.
