Abstract
A method for non-surgically treating an internal nasal valve of a patient comprising, injecting a working device into the internal nasal valve of the patient, wherein the injected working device in the nasal tissue causes an alteration of an internal or external nasal valve. A device introduced by injection into the nose, allowing for structural support or filling of defects in the nose, and causing a change in external shape of the nose. The device and inserts and implants described also have use in cosmetic applications relating to the facial tissue.
Claims34
A method for changing a structure of a nose, the method comprising:
- placing an implant within a cylindrical core of an introducing needle, the implant having a length, a width and a thickness sized for the implant to reside within nasal tissue of the nose;
- inserting the introducing needle into the nose;
- ejecting the implant out of the introducing needle into the nasal tissue;
- placing the implant at the lateral edge of a lateral cartilage to strengthen attachment of the lateral cartilage to a maxillary bone of the nose,
- wherein the implant is made of bioabsorbable material.
A method for correcting a nasal valve collapse of a nose, the method comprising
- placing of an implant within a cylindrical core of an introducing needle;
- inserting the introducing needle into the nose;
- controlling movement of the implant out of the introduction needle and into nasal tissue of the nose;
- depositing the implant adjacent to a lateral edge of a lower lateral cartilage and a maxillary bone of the nose;
- and
- applying force to the cartilage to stent the nasal valve open,
- wherein the implant is made of bioabsorbable material.
A method for correcting a nasal valve collapse of a nose, the method comprising
- placing of an implant within a cylindrical core of an introducing needle;
- inserting the introducing needle into the nose;
- controlling movement of the implant out of the introduction needle and into nasal tissue of the nose;
- depositing the implant into the nasal tissue at the junction of an upper lateral cartilage portion and a septum cartilage portion;
- and
- applying a force on the upper lateral cartilage to support the nasal valve,
- wherein the deposited implant alters an internal nasal valve resulting in a change in an internal nasal valve angle, and
- wherein the implant is made of bioabsorbable material.
