Shutter having magnet-driven drive ring

A shutter assembly, comprising:

• a base plate defining a shutter opening having a central axis;
• a drive ring rotatable about the central axis;
• a plurality of shutter blades configured to transition between an open position exposing the shutter opening and a closed position substantially occluding the shutter opening in response to rotation of the drive ring;
• a first solenoid disposed on the base plate;
• a second solenoid substantially identical to the first solenoid, the second solenoid being positioned such that the drive ring is rotatably disposed between the first and second solenoids;
• and
• a magnet moveable in a plane substantially perpendicular to the central axis in response to an electrical field created by at least one of the first and second solenoids, wherein movement of the magnet relative to the central axis drives rotation of the drive ring in a first direction,
• wherein the first and second solenoids include respective first magnetic poles configured to take on a common first polarity, the at least one of the first and second solenoids driving movement of the magnet away from the respective first magnetic pole to rotate the drive ring in the first direction when the at least one of the first and second solenoids takes on the first polarity.
