A hose comprising a tubular body of flexible material arranged between an inner elongate gripping member, formed of a material which, on cooling, expands in the longitudinal direction of the gripping member and an outer gripping member made of a material which contracts on cooling, or does not substantially change length on cooling, wherein the inner elongate gripping member is formed of a composite material that comprises a matrix of fibers within a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin.
