Abstract
Floorboards are shown, which consist of a core and a surface layer and are provided with decorative joint edges which are formed by removing the surface layer.
Claims23
A method for making a floorboard, or a floor element that is to be divided into at least two floorboards, the method comprising:
- making a core from a sheet shaped material, from which a part of a locking system for vertical locking of the floorboards is to be formed,
- impregnating and/or staining the core surface with a substance at least in portions which in the completed floorboard will constitute a joint edge of the completed floorboard,
- arranging a surface layer on the core surface,
- forming joint edges in the core to form the part of the locking system;
- and
- removing a part of the surface layer so that said core surface is uncovered and forms a stained and/or impregnated surface portion above the locking system, the stained and/or impregnated surface portion being essentially parallel to the upper side of the floorboard.

- arranging a surface layer on the core surface, and
- removing a part of the surface layer so that said core surface is uncovered and forms a stained and/or impregnated surface portion essentially parallel to the upper side of the floorboard,
- wherein the method further comprises:
- impregnating and/or staining with said substance the core surface at least in portions between joint edges, wherein
- removing a part of the surface layer makes a groove on the core surface, and the groove is parallel with the joint edges,
- wherein the core comprises high density fibreboard, medium density fibreboard, particle board or plywood.
