Generation of data concerning reception of media content at a communication device

A communication device, comprising:

• a communication interface configured to receive data from a wireless network;
• a processor communicatively coupled to the communication interface;
• a display communicatively coupled to the processor;
• and
• a user interface communicatively coupled to the processor,
• wherein the processor is configured to:
• receive media content from a place-shifting device via the communication interface;
• display the media content on the display;
• generate data based on the received media content, wherein the data comprises information identifying the media content displayed on the display, and wherein the data comprises information identifying a time period during which the communication device receives the media content;
• and
• transferring the generated data to a communication node.

A method of providing data associated with reception of media content, the method comprising:

• receiving media content from a place-shifting device via a communication network at a communication device;
• outputting the received media content to a display of the communication device;
• generating media consumption data, the media consumption data tracking the media outputted to the display;
• and
• transferring the media consumption data to a communication node.
