Abstract
Materials and methods are provided for producing patterned multi-array, multi-specific surfaces which are electronically excited for use in electrochemiluminescence based tests. Materials and methods are provided for the chemical and/or physical control of conducting domains and reagent deposition for use in flat panel displays and multiply specific testing procedures.
Claims7
A method for detecting a nucleic acid by hybridization reaction comprising:
- (a) forming a composition comprising a first nucleic acid and a second nucleic acid, wherein said second nucleic acid is immobilized on an electrode and covalently attached to a label, and
- (b) measuring the electron transfer between the label and the electrode so as to determine if said first nucleic acid has hybridized to said second nucleic acid, wherein electron transfer rate is increased by hybridization;
- wherein said electrode comprises a mixed monolayer and at least one constituent of said mixed monolayer facilitates the transfer of electrical potential.
