Apparatus and method for embedding and extracting information in analog signals using distributed signal features and replica modulation

An apparatus for embedding auxiliary information into a host content, comprising:

• one or more filters configured to produce an auxiliary information carrier comprising multiple distinct frequency bands from the host content;
• one or more delay producing logic components implemented at least partially in hardware configured to modify the auxiliary information carrier to comprise a plurality of components having varying amounts of delay or offset from each other;
• a calculator configured to calculate a value of the auxiliary information carrier corresponding to an auxiliary information symbol value according to a predefined relationship between the auxiliary information symbol value and the auxiliary information carrier;
• a modifying signal generator configured to produce one or more host modifying components for modifying the host content based upon the calculated value;
• and a modification logic component configured to modify the host content with the one or more host modifying components to produce an embedded host content.
