Abstract
The invention provides new methods, means and uses in connection with detection, characterization and prognosis of colo-rectal cancer, via the identification of the SATB2 protein as a marker for this cancer type.
Claims6
A method of treatment of a mammalian subject having a metastasis, comprising:
- detecting the presence of special AT-rich sequence binding protein 2 (SATB2 protein) in a sample taken from the metastasis of the subject;
- determining that the sample originated from colorectal cancer when SATB2 protein is detected in the sample;
- and
- applying a colorectal cancer treatment to the subject.
1 more element
A method of determining whether a colorectal cancer treatment should be applied to a mammalian subject having a metastasis, comprising:
- detecting the presence of special AT-rich sequence binding protein 2 (SATB2 protein) in a sample taken from the metastasis of the subject using an antibody that binds the SATB2 subsequence SEQ ID NO:1;
- determining that the sample originated from colorectal cancer when SATB2 protein is detected in the sample;
- and
- determining that the colorectal cancer treatment should be applied to the subject.
