Abstract
Disclosed are novel engineered fuel feed stocks, feed stocks produced by the described processes, and methods of making the fuel feed stocks. Components derived from processed MSW waste streams can be used to make such feed stocks which are substantially free of glass, metals, grit and noncombustibles. These feed stocks are useful for a variety of purposes including as gasification and combustion fuels.
Claims8
A fuel feed stock, consisting essentially of MSW, the MSW having, prior to thermal conversion:
- a carbon content of between about 70% (w/w) and about 80% (w/w);
- a hydrogen content of between about 4% (w/w) and about 9% (w/w),
- an ash content of less than about 10% (w/w),
- a moisture content of between about 1% (w/w) and about 10% (w/w)
- an O/C ratio of between about 0.05 and about 0.12;
- and
- wherein the MSW contains biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste;
- and
- wherein the feed stock contains substantially no glass, metals, grit, and noncombustible waste.
