Sequential calibration of matched current sources

An integrated circuit, comprising:

• a reference terminal;
• a plurality of current source circuits (CSCs), wherein each CSC is coupled to the reference terminal and includes a programmable current source, wherein if a signal on the reference terminal has a predetermined characteristic at a predetermined time then said each CSC uses a reference current received onto the reference terminal to calibrate its programmable current source;
• and
• a plurality of current source terminals, wherein the programmable current source in each CSC is coupled to a respective one of the current source terminals.

An integrated circuit, comprising:

• a reference terminal;
• a plurality of current source circuits (CSCs), wherein each CSC includes a programmable current source;
• a plurality of current source terminals, wherein the programmable current source in each CSC is coupled to a respective one of the current source terminals;
• and
• circuitry that monitors a signal on the reference terminal and detects if the signal has a predetermined characteristic at a time, and in response to detecting that the signal has the predetermined characteristic at the time causes each of the plurality of CSCs to use a reference current received onto the reference terminal to calibrate its programmable current source.

A packaged integrated circuit comprising:

• a reference terminal;
• a plurality of programmable current sources;
• a plurality of current source terminals, wherein each programmable current source is coupled to a respective one of the current source terminals;
• and
• means for determining whether a signal on the reference terminal has a predetermined characteristic, and in response to determining that the signal has the predetermined characteristic the means causes each of the plurality of programmable current sources to be calibrated one at a time using a reference current received onto the reference terminal.
