Abstract
Compositions and methods for inducing the deposition of elastin in skin by administering compositions including a mineralocorticoid, such as, for example, aldosterone and, optionally, a secondary active agent for enhancing or modulating the effect of the mineralocorticoid are described herein.
Claims5
A method for increasing the net deposition of elastin in skin comprising:
- administering an effective amount of a collagen inhibitor and an effective amount of aldosterone to the skin of a subject affected by a condition selected from the group consisting of keloids, aging, stretch marks, overly stretched skin, sun damaged skin, scar tissue, supravalvular aortic stenosis (SVAS), Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS), Cutis Laxa, Marfan disease, GM-1-gangliosidosis, Morquio B, Hurler disease, Costello syndrome, Ehlers Danlos syndrome, pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), and combinations thereof, wherein the net deposition of elastin is increased in the skin.
