Method of electrically connecting a microelectronic component

A method of making a microelectronic connection component, the method comprising:

• (a) providing a plurality of portions of a conductive, etch-resistant material on a surface of a metallic sheet;
• (b) etching said sheet from said surface to form posts extending generally parallel to one another aligned with said portions of said etch-resistant material with first ends of said posts contacting said conductive, etch-resistant material and second ends of said posts being remote from said first ends;
• (c) providing a microelectronic device having one of a front face or a rear face overlying said conductive, etch-resistant material and said first ends of said posts, wherein said second ends of said posts face away from said microelectronic device as interconnection terminals for said connection component;
• and
• (d) electrically connecting at least some of said posts to said microelectronic device.
