Abstract
Fluorescent organic nanoparticles and a process for producing fluorescent organic nanoparticles having a size of less than about 500 nanometers comprising a polymeric matrix comprising one or more crosslinked polymer resins, and comprising one or more fluorescent dyes incorporated into the polymer matrix.
Claims14
A fluorescent organic nanoparticle, comprising:
- a polymeric matrix comprising one or more crosslinked polyester resins, wherein the crosslinked polyester resins comprise about 50 to about 99.99 weight percent of the total weight of the nanoparticle;
- and
- one or more fluorescent dyes, wherein the fluorescent dyes are incorporated into the polymer matrix;
- wherein the fluorescent organic nanoparticles have a size of less than 500 nanometers (nm) and are dispersible in an organic solvent.
1 more element
A process for preparing a fluorescent organic nanoparticle, comprising:
- preparing a polymer latex or emulsion comprising one or more polyester resins, wherein the crosslinked polyester resins comprise about 50 to 99.99 percent of the total weight of the nanoparticle,
- incorporating one or more fluorescent dyes in the latex or emulsion, and
- crosslinking the one or more polyester resins to produce a fluorescent organic nanoparticle having a size of less than about 500 nm comprising a polymeric matrix comprising one or more crosslinked polyester resins, and comprising one or more fluorescent dyes incorporated into the polymer matrix, wherein the fluorescent organic nanoparticle is dispersible in an organic solvent.
