Abstract
A method for operating an engine with a fuel reformer is presented. In one embodiment a method for operating an engine by injecting a gaseous fuel and a liquid fuel to at least an engine cylinder is presented. The mixture of an engine cylinder may be diluted with EGR and a fraction of gaseous fuel may be increased relative to a fraction of liquid fuel injected to a cylinder in response to an operator tip-out.
Claims20
A method for operating an engine, comprising:
- operating an engine by injecting a gaseous fuel and a liquid fuel to at least one engine cylinder;
- diluting an air-fuel mixture of the at least one engine cylinder with EGR;
- and
- increasing a fraction of gaseous fuel relative to a fraction of liquid fuel injected to the at least one engine cylinder in response to an EGR amount of the at least one engine cylinder.
1 more element
A method for operating an engine, comprising:
- operating an engine by injecting a gaseous fuel and a liquid fuel to at least one engine cylinder;
- diluting a mixture of at least one engine cylinder with an amount of EGR;
- increasing a fraction of gaseous fuel relative to a fraction of liquid fuel injected to the at least one engine cylinder in response to the amount of EGR in said at least one engine cylinder during an operator tip-out;
- and
- increasing the fraction of liquid fuel relative to the fraction of gaseous fuel injected to the at least one engine cylinder in response to a reduction in the amount of EGR in the at least one engine cylinder.
2 more elements
A method for operating an engine, comprising:
- operating an engine by injecting a gaseous fuel and a liquid fuel to at least one engine cylinder;
- and
- deactivating injection of said gaseous fuel in response to an increasing torque demand that exceeds a threshold;
- and
- reactivating injection of said gaseous fuel, and increasing a fraction of gaseous fuel relative to a fraction of liquid fuel injected to the at least one engine cylinder in response to an EGR amount of the at least one engine cylinder during an operator tip-out.
