Abstract
A method and a device for the atomization of a liquid by directing a jet of liquid onto a hot contact surface, in particular a deflecting surface, so that a part of the liquid is vaporized. The non-vaporized liquid is atomized into small droplets that form an aerosol.

Method for the atomization of a liquid, comprising the steps of:
- directing a liquid as a jet onto a hot or heated contact surface and,
- partially vaporizing the liquid with hot or heated contact surface in order to atomize the liquid in a non-directed manner into small droplets and generating an aerosol.
