Abstract
This invention provides HIF-3α nucleic acid and sequences. Also provided are methods for using HIF-3α nucleic acids, proteins, fragments, antibodies, probes, and cells, to characterize HIF-3α, modulate HIF-3α cellular levels, induce angiogenesis, improve muscular function, and treat coronary and cardiac diseases in mammals.

An isolated or purified nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- the nucleotide sequence that is fully complementary to the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1;
- and
- nucleotide sequences having at least 95% identity to the full length of the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
