An isolated LL-37 peptide having the amino acid sequence FKRIVQRIKDFLRX1 (SEQ ID NO:
- 10), wherein X1 is selected from the group consisting of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 amino acids, and wherein at least one of the amino acids at position 4, 8, and 12 is a D-amino acid.
