Abstract
The present invention relates generally to novel systems and methods for polymerizing nanoparticles within a polymer matrix and to novel methods for fabricating materials containing nanoparticles in a polymer matrix.

A composition of matter comprising a polymer fiber with a plurality of controllably spaced nanoparticles integrated into the polymer fiber;
- wherein the nanoparticles are derivatized to function as a monomer in the polymer fiber.
