Turn-up device for making a molded body of an air spring for a vehicle wheel suspension for a lift axle

A turn-up device for making a molded body of an air spring on a mechanical drum having an expandable end portion with segments that are radially separated from each other when the end portion is in an expanded condition, the device comprising:

• a support member;
• a sleeve having a plurality of fingers each provided with a cam surface;
• a support member configured to be movable relative to the sleeve;
• and
• a plurality of turning arms positioned and sized for insertion into spaces between the segments of the expandable end portion of the drum, each turning arm being pivotally mounted to the support member for movement between a radially outer position and a radially inner position, each turning arm being biased to the radially inner position, each turning arm including a roller that engages a respective cam surface of a respective finger when the turning arm is in its radially outer position,
• wherein, upon movement of the support member towards the drum, the roller of each turning arm follows along the respective cam surface of the respective finger,
• wherein, upon continued movement of the support member towards the drum, the roller of each turning arm disengages the respective cam surface of the respective finger, thereby releasing each turning arm to its radially inner position by virtue of each turning arm being biased to its radially inner position.
