Abstract
The present invention provides compositions, methods and kits for enhancing the amplification of PrPSc for use in increasing the sensitivity of identifying the presence of PrPSc in a sample.
Claims4
A method for identifying the presence of PrPSc comprising contacting a sample suspected of containing an infectious prion protein with a nucleic acid molecule consisting of poly(A), poly(dA), poly (dT) or poly(U);
- amplifying PrPSc from PrPC;
- and identifying the presence of PrPSc.
A method for identifying the presence of PrPSc comprising
- contacting a sample suspected of containing an infectious prion protein with a substantially purified preparation of PrPC obtained by immunoaffinity chromatography and ion exchange chromatography, and a nucleic acid molecule consisting of poly(A), poly(dA), poly (dT) or poly(U);
- amplifying PrPSc from the PrPC;
- and
- identifying the presence of PrPSc.
