Abstract
The disclosure provides novel antibodies against growth and differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8), in particular human antibodies, and antibody fragments, including those that inhibit GDF-8 activity in vitro and/or in vivo. The disclosure also provides methods for diagnosing, preventing, or treating degenerative disorders of muscle or bone, or disorders of insulin metabolism.
Claims21
An isolated antibody capable of specifically binding GDF 8 or BMP 11 comprising:
- (a) the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:14,
- (b) the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:26,
- (c) a fragment of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 14 that is capable of specifically binding GDF 8 or BMP 11, or
- (d) a fragment of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:26 that is capable of specifically binding GDF 8 or BMP 11.
