Abstract
The present invention concerns a novel member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of cytokines. In particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the endokine alpha protein. Endokine alpha polypeptides are also provided, as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. Also provided are diagnostic and therapeutic methods concerning TNF family-related disorders.
Claims28
An isolated protein comprising an amino acid sequence which is a fragment of amino acids 1 to 169 of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein said fragment induces endokine-α receptor activation of NF-κB in HEK 293 cells transfected with endokine-α receptor, inhibits IL-12 production in monocytes, or both.
An isolated protein comprising an amino acid sequence which is at least 90% identical to amino acids 1 to 169 of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein said protein induces endokine-α receptor activation of NF-κB in HEK 293 cells transfected with endokine-α receptor, inhibits IL-12 production in monocytes, or both.
An isolated protein comprising an amino acid sequence which is a fragment of the complete amino acid sequence encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 97640, wherein said fragment induces endokine-α receptor activation of NF-κB HEK 293 cells transfected with endokine-α receptor, inhibits IL-12 production in monocytes, or both.
An isolated protein comprising an amino acid sequence which is at least 90% identical to the complete amino acid sequence encoded by the cDNA in ATCC Deposit No. 97640, wherein said protein induces endokine-α receptor activation of NF-κB HEK 293 cells transfected with endokine-α receptor, inhibits IL-12 production in monocytes, or both.
