Abstract
The invention relates to a component having a rectifying function, fulfilled by means of charge transfer by ions. To this end, the component is composed of multiple layers which have, successively, an asymmetric energy level course, and an electric field applied to these multiple layers.

A rectifier having a rectifying effect on ion charge transport, comprising a stack of at least three layers of semiconductive material having an asymmetrical course of the equilibrium energy level for a single ion type, and electrodes connected to an electric source for applying an electric field across said stack for rectifying passage of ions of said type in said stack.
