Abstract
The disclosure relates to aqueous-based gels and, in some cases, usage of such gels to impart corrosion resistance to steel and/or zinc containing surfaces, e.g., galvanized steel. The gel comprises water, at least one thickener, at least one silica containing material and an optional surfactant.
Claims20
An aqueous gel comprising a combination comprising about 80 to about 99.9 wt. % water, a thickener comprising silica, at least one silicate and at least one surfacant wherein said gel has a PH greater than about 10.
An aqueos gel comprising about 80 to about 99.9 wt. % deionized water, at least one thickener, at least one silica containing material and an optional surfacant;
- wherein the pH of the gel is greater than about 10.
An aqueous gel for treating a metal surface obtained by combining about 80 to about 99.9 wt. % water, at least one thickener, at least one silica containing material and a surfacant;
- wherein the pH of gel is greater than about 10.
A composition comprising a combination comprising about 80 to about 99.9 wt. % water, at least one thickener, at least one silica containing material and at least one surfacant and wherein the composition has a pH greater than about 10.
A composition comprising a combination comprising water, at least one thickener, at least one silica containing material, at least one surfacant and sodium nitrite and wherein the composition has a PH greater than about 10.
