Claims8
A substantially pure (alpha).sub.2 -subunit of a human calcium channel encoded by DNA comprising a sequence of nucleotides that encodes the (alpha).sub.2 -subunit of a human calcium channel, wherein the sequence of nucleotides hybridizes under conditions of high stringency with a naturally occuring complementary DNA encoding a human calcium changed subunit that includes all or a portion of the nucleotide sequence set forth in FIG. 2a to 2f and the portion includes at least nucleotides 43-272 set forth in FIGS. 2a to 2f.
