Abstract
An electrorheological fluid comprising an electrically insulating liquid and acid, iodine or alcohol-treated, or iodine-treated and subsequently electrically insulating film-coated, dispersible carbonaceous particles dispersed therein has a high electrorheological effect even without lowering in a high temperature region, though it is a water-free system.
Claims4
An electrorheological fluid consisting essentially of 1 to 60 parts by weight of iodine-treated carbonaceous particles dispersed in 90 to 40% by weight of an electrically insulating liquid.
An electrorheological fluid consisting essentially of 1 to 60 parts by weight of iodine-treated carbonaceous particles, which have been coated with an electrically insulating fill, dispersed in 99 to 40 parts by weight of an electrically insulating liquid.
