A fly cutter wheel has at least one projecting tooth at a distance from its rotation axis and a chip breaker forward of said tooth in its rotation direction. Applications include the machining of synthetic material ophthalmic lenses.

Fly cutter wheel having a rotation axis and at least one projecting tooth at a distance from the rotation axis and a chip breaker forward of said tooth relative to the rotation direction thereof, said chip breaker having a hole therethrough.
