Abstract
Disclosed are nucleic acid sequences encoding satellite RNA's associated with the dsRNA virus of Trichomonas vaginalis. The use of the satellite molecules as vectors for the insertion of foreign genetic material into Trichomonas vaginalis protozoans infected with dsRNA virus is also disclosed.
Claims21
An isolated nucleic acid comprising a contiguous sequence consisting of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3 or the full length complement of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3.
A method of expressing a recombinant gene in a TVV infected protozoan cell comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a nucleic acid molecule comprising a recombinant gene fused with a sequence in accordance with SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3;
- (b) transfecting said molecule into a TVV infected protozoan cell;
- and
- (c) culturing said cell under conditions appropriate for the expression of said recombinant gene.
An isolated nucleic acid which comprises at least 40 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3 or the full length complement of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:3.
