Abstract
Sulfonate salts produced by basic hydrolysis of chlorosulfonated ethylene/propylene polymers grafted with an unsaturated acid or anhydride having chlorine contents of 20-70 weight percent and sulfur contents of 1.5-10 weight percent, and 2-10 weight percent copolymerized ethylene units provide self-stabilized resin latexes of unusual stability.
Claims5
A composition comprising a chlorosulfonated copolymer of ethylene and propylene having grafted thereon C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 unsaturated acid or anhydride units, the chlorosulfonated copolymer containing 20-70 weight percent chlorine and 1.5-10 weight percent sulfur, the copolymer prior to chlorosulfonation containing about 0.5-10 weight percent, based on the weight of the copolymer, of grafted C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 unsaturated acid or anhydride units and 2-10 weight percent, based on the weight of the copolymer, of copolymerized ethylene units.
