Abstract
Disclosed is a process for preparation of monoalkyl ethers by reacting low molecular weight olefins and the corresponding oxiranes, in the presence of a catalyst comprising an acidic heterogeneous or homogeneous catalyst, generally represented by the equation: ##STR1## where R, R', R" may be hydrogen or an alkyl radical.
Claims1
A process for the synthesis of propylene glycol mono-t-butyl ethers from isobutylene and propylene oxide which comprises:
- contacting said isobutylene and propylene oxide in the presence of sufficient water to satisfy the stoichiometry of the reaction and a catalyst consisting essentially of 12-tungstophosphoric acid, and heating to 100.degree. C. with mixing at a pressure of from 100 to 400 psig.
