Abstract
A system and method of displaying handwriting parameters in which a dynamic parameter, such as the tangential speed, of a stylus moving across a surface is determined, a trace of the stylus across the surface is recorded on a record member, and the dynamic parameter is represented on the record member to provide a means of visually observing both the handwriting itself and one or more dynamic parameters of the handwriting process.
Claims34
A method of displaying handwriting and handwriting parameters from movement of a stylus across a surface, comprising:
- resolving the tangential speed of the stylus tip as it moves along a trace across the surface;
- recording on a record member the stylus trace as a thin line;
- and
- recording an envelope, which is visually distinguishable from the thin line, on the record member along and about the thin line, in which the width of the envelope is modulated in proportion to the stylus tangential speed to visually indicate the stylus tangential speed, for displaying both the handwriting and the stylus tangential speed.
A system for displaying handwriting and handwriting parameters from movement of a stylus across a surface, comprising:
- means for resolving the tangential speed of the stylus tip as it moves along a trace across the surface;
- means for recording on a record member the stylus trace as a thin line;
- and
- means for recording an envelope, which is visually distinguishable from the thin line, on the record member along and about the thin line, in which the width of the envelope is modulated in proportion to the stylus tangential speed, for displaying both the handwriting and the stylus tangential speed.
