Abstract
A method for defoaming a Bayer process liquor, the method comprising the steps of adding to the Bayer process liquor an effective amount of an antifoam/defoamer composition comprising a polyether surfactant and a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester.

A method for reducing foam in a Bayer process liquor, the method comprising the steps of adding to the Bayer process liquor an effective amount of an antifoam/defoamer composition comprising a polyoxyalkylated glycerol and a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester, wherein the effective amount of the antifoam/defoamer composition added to the Bayer process liquid reduces foam in the Bayer process liquor.
